GREAT,is better than good,bur not as good as magnificent.
it can also infer a capacity for self delusion, as in great Britain, so we should all refer to the UK as Magnificent Britain, AND BE REALLY DELUDED.

Can you be more specific? (i.e. do you refer multicultural definitions such as "Maha" in India, etc.) Are you looking for a critical/philosophical definition of the word "Great"?
