Why indeed? You do have choices, right? You can quit, get another job, go back to school to get a degree, take a correspondence course, start a home-based business, open your own store, marry into money so that you don't have to work, live in a box on the street, or just feel fortunate that you have a job and aren't living on unemployment and eating cat food. This is still the land of opportunity (if you live in America), and you can be or do whatever it is you want to. Since you seem unhappy, do something about it. Set some goals, and get outta that dead-end job. My son went back and got his high school diploma (he's married, one son and three foster kids under five). He's now making five dollars more an hour, just for having a high school diploma. Just think what a college degree could do! So, why indeed? <*)))><

You know i ask myself the same question everyday, one day i decided to write down all the things i should be or can do instead of the job and all the reasons why am not doing them and it sort of gave me some clarity on stuff and peace of mind and am currently looking at a career change, despite what other people think because i need to be happy ...life is too short, at times we just need to look within for some answers, hope you get yours and you end up doing something you like.

Offices can be mind-numbingly soul destroying, but relax - you're not the only one stuck in a job that you're not very keen on. And as for why people do it - well, the basic truth is that offices pay fairly well, and the work isn't overly strenuous, so people stick around in them because they're worried that nothing better will be available to them.

think of your family and kids (if you have them) or the planned holidays next year, then you do not feel too bad after all.
