Epsom salts are said to have soothing and reviving properties. They are derived from Epsom in England.
Epson is a brand name - printers. The Japanese company manufacturing Electronic Printers (EP) developed the next generation printer. They could not think of a suitable name so they decided to call it Epson, ie., Son of EP. You don't believe me? It was there in Reader's Digest.

It derived from a company once using the Epson compound to build printers and peripherals, but the plan went all wrong. So now they just use it to soak things in.

I think it's Epsom salt and I don't think it's a brand name. I have no clue where it comes from.
