How do u know she actually likes it? What I really think is she is just acting like she likes the team just to impress her new boyfriend.
Just wait until they've been together longer, she will start to show her true colors.

she still loves you and is using the football as a way to be connected on some level...
kinda like two starstruck lovers staring at the moon at the exact same time...
I did this with the game of Pool
I dated a guy who played obsessively, was awesome at it.
I had no interest...when I moved, I asked him for allllll the playing advice in the world on the matter of Pool, and learned via emails he sent...brought me some emotional comfort feeling like there was a connection there that really wasn't...
I even won a a few tournaments after 3 months.

Maybe she didn't like watching it with you. Or felt she had to compete against a ball game to get your attention.
I have literally stood in front of the t.v. during a game buck naked and didn't get more of a response than a "get outta the way, I can't see!"
I have always loved football but I have always had a hard time watching a game with my hubby. He gets into it differently than I do, I jump and scream when my team scores a touchdown too but not quite so much for a pre season game or for a team I don't follow. He also insists on watching every football game available on t.v., I like to watch a few different teams during the year but I also don't get grumpy when I miss seeing a game here or there. I have learned to watch some football with him now comfortably but only because he agreed to not take me cheering for my team winning against his personally.
But anyways back to your question..
Sometimes people are just plain stubborn and she may not have liked football before just to make you mad or maybe she decided she got used to seeing it enough when you were together that she grew into liking it. Who knows, but we are all a bit strange in behavior sometimes. Do you find yourself buying the pretty smelling soap now even though you used to hate how "girly" it smelled? You may find that you just get used to some things and prefer to change your mind about them even after annoucing differently, and that's fine!
Go Vikings!!!!!!
(I'm from Minnesota, duh!)

No it does not make sense. Maybe when you two were married you hogged the TV and wouldn't ever let her watch her shows. Why didn't you just buy two TV sets? I think she is pretending she likes it to get you to like her.
