Yes. Maybe you should take your son out of that horrible situation. I went to a school with majority of white people. There was one time that a white janitor called me stupid and blind. Let me also say that this was in a Christian school. My parents, and my big sister went down there and gave him a piece of their minds. The principal made him apologize to me and my parents for such harsh language. At the time I was only 9. If you don't want your son to grow up full of hate for caucasions, please remove him from that situation. I mean I know you want him to get used to working with white people, but he can do that in a better location.

Of course, prejudice is taught at home. Where else would you learn such ignorance. Ignorance breeds ignorance. You learn what you live, what you live is normal, until you get into the world and realize that hatred and racism and prejudice is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated outside of your own ignorant home. Why don't you as mom, go to the school and address the issue. This is 2006, and although racism was never acceptable, truly now it should not even be tolerated. By keeping your mouth closed, you are allowing it. So, stand up and say something. Make the administration aware that you are not going to tolerate your son being harassed by any other students. Make a stand for yourself and your son. Speak up and make your displeasure and pain known. How very sad, these children are the ones who will be running the country and if this is our future, I am very afraid. When you know better you do better, someone needs to take a stand and make sure that they learn better way. Only when you know better can you do better. Be the one to begin the process, many times this ignorance comes out of fear, the fear of not knowing. Do your part and do something about it, quickly before someone gets hurt. A person can only take so much harassment before they react. These bahaviors are so unacceptable. God Bless you & Good Luck

I'm assuming that this harrassment is racially motivated because you pointed out the 2 different groups. Many times white kids don't necessarily learn it from their parents directly, but indirectly because their parents haven't taught them about 'white privelege'. Or their parents haven't equipped them w/ the knowledge to decipher right from wrong in racial circumstances or the power to unlearn things they may see in the media or other harmful stereotypes. Or maybe they got done reading the article titled "White people are mutants" where a biological study proved that white people are simply black people, but mutated (See source, or just google it).

I believe that not teaching your kid the truth is the same as teaching them a lie.

Several reasons could explain this:
1. It has nothing to do with black and white and they are just bullies or your son provoked them.
2. Kids can be cruel no matter what your color is
3. Behavior is learned from parents but also other kids

.Because they are stupid....but just the same when all the black children ...Harassed ,,my son,at a very, very young age, my son did not care about color at all, he just wanted to play with the children....orange ,purple, did not matter..This is a learned behavior...if people teach hate they are going to get hate if people teach fear they are going to have fear...it is a terrible thing .!.. stupid is, what stupid does...i just kept telling my son over and over again. that not all people where like this,,, i feared that these kids were going to push my son into being predigest..he was not being taught hate at home..so i just kept on and on teaching him goodness....my son is now 14....and he is wonder full.! ignore stupids and it will go away..

Do you think there would be any racism shown to a white child at an all black school? I hate to say this but it is an unfortunate innate problem no matter what the racial dynamic.

Shouldn't the question be..."Why is my son being harrassed?" Who gives a dam if the harrasser is white or black? Would it make any difference if your son was getting harrassed by black people? Give up the color game, it's old!

I think that people do learn it from their parents and from their larger family.

I am thankful that I had the sense to question my parents values but not everyone does. All you can do is try and educate people and make them question beliefs that heve probably been handed down through several generations.

hmmm, I think when you are young it usually comes from friends, if he if in his teens then it may be that even if there parents didn't encourage it. They should stop it at the first signs. punishment, teaching etc.
Dont worry too much. Everybody is bullied at school for something and in the end will act to make him stronger. If they are bullying him for the colour of his skin at least they cany think of anything thats actually wrong with him.
