Deadwood....one of the most realistic programs of all time, on any channel. Sopranos is next for the same reason. Third was 6 Feet Under for different reasons.
All of these programs employed relatively unknown actors and very creative writers who know their crafts.
I'm not a fan of the awards programs, but these 3 HBO series have won more than their regular network competition.

My favorite show is not on HBO because I have never subscribed to HBO. Basic cable or dish is expensive enough and you can always rent movies. Actually there are some really good shows on the channels I do get that give me more than my fair share of t.v. time. I'm going to have to weed some of them out. House and Boston Legal are keepers. Bones & Criminal Minds are great when I catch them but it's okay if I miss them. I wanted to love Desperate Housewives, because I enjoy daytime soaps, but we shall see what this year brings. I wanted to get into Kidnapped tonight, but got into a little spat with my husband. We'll see on that one. Actually what I find myself watching or having on the t.v. most is CNN or re-runs of Friends or the X-Files. By the way, I do work and read. Re-reading my list it seems that I do nothing but watch t.v. Scary. By the way, I'm currently reading Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged.

I love the Sopranos, and next season is the last, so I'll be ordering HBO for that. Other then that though, I only watch Prison Break.

No idea, because in Australia we don't "have" HBO.
But my favourite shows include Prison Break, 24, Grey's Anatomy and Lost.
