The rule of thumb is that you need a filter pump system that can cycle at least 3.5 to 4 times the amount of water in your tank at a minimum. So if your tank holds 295 liters you need a pump that is rated at 1,180 liters an hour based on four times your tank capacity. For best results I try to stay around the 5 times tank size. Most filters/pumps have a rating of what size tank they can be used for.

look at the under gravel filter system which covers the base of the tank the pumps come up in different sizes so just 1 hefty pump will do the business good luck keeping marine fish.
