It's not that hard to understand ppl...

The USA won against the British but did not accomplish it's goal of obtaining some Canadian territory; therefore, the Canadians also won.

LMAO. War of 1812

An armed conflict between the United States and Great Britain, 1812—15. It followed a period of great stress between the two nations as a result of the treatment of neutral countries by both France and England during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, in which the latter two were antagonists (1793—1801, 1803—14). No Canada was not involved.
Canada gained independence from the United Kingdom in an incremental process that began in 1867 and ended in 1982.

The closest Canada has come to defeating the U.S. in war was before the U.S. was actually an independent nation. The war was the French and Indian War (called the Seven Years' War in its European theater). The war took place between 1756 and 1763. The war pitted the British and American colonists against the French and Native Americans. Some of the battles were around the Eastern Great Lakes region around New York State. At that time Canada was also a territory of the British Empire, as were the American colonies. "Canada" and the colonies won against the French and the "Indians". Canada has not been at war with the United States during the U.S. history as a nation.

The War of 1812 was between Britain and the U.S., and most historians would say the U.S., by surviving as an independent nation, won.

Canada existed only as a territory or colony of Britain at this time. Therefore Canada participated only as part of Britain. Sorry. Canada didn't beat the U.S. in this or any other war. Like the U.S. it survived and went on to become the great nation it is today.

Yes, Canada won. Simply put the war aim of the USA in 1812 was to conquer and make part of the USA Canada. Since this demonstratively did not happen I would say that Canada won.
I have to add that no international or American Historian of any note feels that Great Britain or any party in Canada started the War of 1812. We know who started that war. Sorry,Warren D. but Pres. Madison left letters if not tapes.

Why worry with that? Canada is a super power connected to the U.S. Our enemies include Chavez, Ahmadinejad, and muhammed. We can settle these trifles later, peacefully, let's get the extremists outta here first, they lack education, we need to reach their children with peace.
