I majored in Philosophy and I actually found myself in the Advertising field. Most Philosophy majors I knew went on to law school.

What's great about Philosophy is that it really teaches you how to think analytically. Which can be applied to many different industries. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to convince future employers, especially in marketing, so if you want to go that route, I would maybe double major or minor in something else.

With that said, I would very much recommend a degree in Philosophy.

Go into law school and become a lawyer. A lawyer needs a philosophy major as he has to argue, debate, rebut evidence,cross-examine eyewitnesses. He has to use a lot of reasonng and logic. He needs good speaking speech patterns.and effective communication. And also, to be very objective. He needs philosophy if he wants to defend his client effectively. As a prosecutor or a judge, he needs philosophy so his judgments are fair, and reasonable.

G'day 1me,

Thank you for your question.

Flinders University states "As well as teaching Philosophy in schools and in Universities, Philosophy graduates have made careers in the Public Service, and in business and industry. There is a demand for trained Ethicists in various public sectors, especially hospitals. Any area in which critical thinking, analytic skills and research abilities are valued will be one in which Philosophy graduates will be successful."

I enclose sources for your reference.
