I have a question about the timing of my periods. I recently started having irregular periods. (I'm ususally on a 28 day cycle.) In July, I got my period at the normal time, on the 12th. Since then, I got it on the 23rd day of my cycle (August 7), and then the last time was on the 17th day of my cycle (August 28). Since then, I have been to the doctor and was told I have ovarian cysts. This is likely the cause of my irregularity, because I have several pea-sized cysts on both ovaries, but I am also wondering if an early detection pregnancy test would work. 28 days from the last period would be the 25th and I want to take the one where you can take it up to 5 days early before you're expected period. I stopped my BC pills (was on them for 10 mos) after my last period until the doctor told me otherwise, and now there is also a possibilty I am pregnant. I'm NOT asking if I am pregnant, I just think with the irregular schedule I have been having I should have gotten my period by now

Irregular periods are normal when you mess with drugs like bc pills. See fat loss tip # 11 on site for articles by 2MDs. Then click on menstruation and diet for info on getting rid of cysts.

You can take a pregnancy test at least 14 days after sexual intercourse. Early response tests may be more sensitive. Take the test when you first urinate in the morning. If you get a negative, it may be that it is too early to tell so, wait a few days and take another one if your period does not show up. Also, talk to your doctor about your pregnancy concerns because the missing period may be because of the cysts or you may want a blood test to test for pregnancy.
