An old saying springs to mind "Live by the sword die by the sword"
I truly hope that this will not be the case with Richard as he is a talented man who is loved by many including his poor wife and children.
They know the dangers when doing things like this and it is part of the job so to speak. A fire person/police person know the risks of their job same as other dangerous job/sport etc they do it because it is a vocation something they have always wanted to do.
If it was not for these people our world would not be safe and also dull in the respects of people like Steve Irwin and Richard Hammond and many like them.
Best wishes to him and a quick recovery.

It would be nice if you actually give information when asking a question:

TV host seriously hurt in crash

The presenter is being treated at Leeds General Infirmary
Top Gear's Richard Hammond is seriously ill in hospital after a crash in a jet-powered car while filming for the BBC programme.
The 36-year-old presenter was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary's neurological unit.

A spokesman for the hospital said Mr Hammond was "stable".

Mr Hammond had been driving a dragster-style car capable of reaching speeds of up to 300mph at the former RAF airfield in Elvington, near York.

The crash will be investigated by the Health and Safety Executive and the BBC.

The BBC said in a statement: "We are looking into all the factors of this accident and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage until we know the full situation."

The dragster car he was driving was believed to have been travelling at about 300mph when it crashed.

Totally agree, I also hope Richard makes a full recovery. Im sure they know what their job involves ie danger yet they still do it. So they must enjoy it (or thewage packet at the end of the month lol). It brings good entertainment to our screens though.

It would be a shame but understandable. I would understand if the accident he had has finally sank in properly and he may now be getting a bit nervy about doing a lot of the stuff on Top Gear. It can take a while to absorb how close you came to dying.

Steve Irwin died doing something relatively harmless that went wrong - Richard was in the face of it.

Similar I suppose, but am hoping he gets better soon.
