I'm just afraid that i spend 2 years at community college and then apply to UC San Diego and not get in... how easy is it get in after going to a JC? does it still depend on what you did in high school and your SAT score? does it combine your GPA from high school with your GPA at the JC?? counselors at my school tell you SHIZNET. and they're always in a rush.

Once you've gone through two years of community college, they no longer look at your high school GPA. Generally if you do well in a community college and take all the classes you need to transfer, you can get into a UC. Whether you can get into the one of your choice can depend upon how many people apply to that particular school that year and what you are trying to study. If a school or a major is "impacted", meaning they have more students than they can handle, you may get shifted to another campus.

Contact the school to find out, however I have attended many schools here in the Midwest and if you are planning to get your AA from a CC then you will not have your high school looked at. There is actually a hour amout but I am not sure if it 30 ro 60 and then they will not look back at High School but only at you college grades.

Also check with the college to see if you need to have a certain GPA...here in the midwest to get from a CC to a University it is a 2.0 GPA (out of a 4.0) and then to get into graduate school it is a 2.5 out of 4.0. But they will have to answer that as well as you can check out their website to see if they have a admissions page that will tell you all the information you need to know.

Good luck.

I would think that they would look at your high school gpa, and then your gpa at college, and compare the 2. if your gpa has improved, then it shows that you are working harder. Also, they might look your scores, b/c every college does. I don't think it would be that difficult if you had the scores in high school to get into UC, but if you didnt and have improved then that will look good too!
