I would have thought that comparing drugs and drug pushers to car manufacturers and cars a bit odd.

Cars are firstly legal, useful and enhance many people lives. Subjective I know and entirely dependent on your own view point and experience.

I would suggest the state of California especially LA would cease to function without the car. I wonder if the government of California uses them...Mmmmmhh now let me think.....Doh...technology will always evolve and improve. To say we have used an item for many years but you need to improve it is a natural evolution / progression.

But surely the millions, and there will be millions of dollars spent on this law suit would be better spent funding research into alternative fuels and genuine solutions to the problem.

The only people it will affect is the consumer in higher retail prices for cars or higher fuel taxes to pay for legal fees incurred by the government if they loose.

Cars will always be here in one form or another.

Only in America could this happen.

I can understand the principle behond wanting to sue the manufacturers of cars, as if they produced less, there would be less damage to the environment.

Equally I can see the idea behind your question.

I think we need to wait and see what happens, in America they sue people and businesses for almost anything. If the state of California wins it's law suit, then I fear the car manufacturers will pass the cost of the legal case on to us the public.

I don't know why you think the lunatics have been let out of the asylum: I hope California win.
Not all the public create a demand for cars and your argument is similar to saying should drug dealers sue the public for creating a demand for drugs.
