The males will usually only kill the babies if it's not the father. They don't normally kill their own babies. First time mothers or very old ones will usually kill them before the male does. Also if you take the male out and try to put him back later the female will possibly kill him. If you really want to separate them take out the female. Male mice will usually be OK if you put a female in his territory. Female mice don't usually like anything that comes into theirs. Even if they've been with them before. confusing I know but true. Mice are pregnant for about 21 days. In the last few days before they give birth they will get very big around the middle. She will also start nesting. Cut up some small strips from an old rag or t-shirt and put them in the cage. She'll use them to build a nest. Some mice nest even if they aren't pregnant though. She'll tend to hide more if she's pregnant and come out only to eat and drink and things like that. It's important after the babies are born to not go near the mice for the first couple days. Don't disturb them at all. If you make the mother nervous after she gives birth she will kill the babies. Kind of strange but they will kill the babies to keep you from killing them. Makes no sense but it happens. I breed mice for my snakes and have had countless little baby mice. I know what to look for.

Easy, hold her up by the tail. (just briefly, becides, that's how you properly handle mice) If her sides bulge out passed her ribcage, she's pregnant.
She needs to be in a cage of her own. I suggest an aquarium type thing. Baby mice are tiny and escape all over the place from cages with bars. I know from experience.
The male(s) will kill the babies and eat them. He needs to be taken out of the cage. Other females (if you have any) are probably pregnant too and will raise their babies together. Shouldn't be a problem.

A male can no longer tie to a canines that's no longer in warmth. She could have been having a dry warmth. A tie ( caught) maximum often ends up in a preg. so the female must be checked with the aid of a vet in approximately 4 weeks for teh preg./

Well, if they're any way like hamsters, mine would gather all her bedding and shoved it into one spot to make a nest. It was like overnight, bedding was gone lol.
