I'll go for pointless. Anything that exerts that kind of fascination on the world populace has to be weird. I see whole busloads of people head down in the mornings over the Sudoku on the way to work....have even seen people leap up with the realisation they just missed their stop!
It's about as bad as those stupid puzzlers you used to be given for extra credit in Maths class, like the one about the boat, the cabbage, the goat and the wolf and there's only room for 2 and how many times do you have to cross to make sure nothing gets eaten! WHO CARES?

Pointless because if you do one, it does not necessarily help you to do another. Or even if it does, then what? There is no point beyond Sudoku where it could be of any relevance.

Well to be fair it is rather pointless cos there is not much you can do with a completed grid but it is a really addictive pass time so I think I am gonna have to vote for fun!

I totally love them! There is a point to them or they wouldn't exisit but hell if I can fully understand the origanal point other then fun. I do know it is believed to help keep the mind sharp and help with things like Alzheimers. I just know for me it is a great way to play with numbers and kill time.

Fun, harmless and exercises the brain. A suduko a day keeps the Alzheimers away.
