We have a white fancy rat. Yes they can climb. She climbs up and down her cage. She climbs up and down the back of the couch when out. She will even climb up and down and around your arm. She can't climb on a slippery surface such as wood that has been painted with gloss but if they can get a hold they are on the move.

Mice and rats both are very agile they can balance and run on the smallest wire or rafter . they can get into very small places and they can climb almost anything. In the past I worked in a chicken house care for baby chicks 150thousand to be exact. at a time there was a lot of equipment that was hung from the ceiling on cables so that it could be raised to the roof to clean out or hang almost to the ground to water and feed them. you would be amazes at the way the mice could run up and down and across the cables.

Yup,why not...My 2 golden hamsters that imported from holland alwaz like to climb on their critter trail and try 2 find the way out from it...They are so active...

Yes, especially if they smell food. They will truly find the way to climb in order to get it.

Yep. I walked out my front door one night, saw this thing-thought it was a tree frog or something, above my head (about 6 ft) on the side windows of the front door (he was hanging out on the wood trim). Saw me, ran down and scrammed.

I had two pet rats. they would to to the bottom of my pants and climb UP MY LEG on the INSIDE of my pants. It was hilarious...until one of them bit my nuts.

of course. they climb everything. They can lift lids off cookie jars or climb trees or the ledge of your house.
