I have trouble with two. (And sometimes one).

Never over 2. But I like to have one conversation at a time because I like to give my undivided attention to the person with whom I am talking.

I usually can manage quite a few although I tend to do more than just IM's. Right now I am yahoo answers as well as playing spades and in a chat room. I also have 4 IM's open and am playing solataire. I type really fast though so seem to be able to handle a lot of IM's no problem as well as doing other things.

oh i can imagine you might. especially if one of those people would tend to drive you crazy, lol. watch out for those women who never seem to shut up! as for me, i had 3 going last night and a phone call. how about that for multitasking? all i needed was to paint my toenails too! but seriously it is more important to give that one person the attention because you have to be careful what is being said. i like to give my undivided attention to one person only.

i have chatted with about 5 at a time.. but it gets confusing to make sure you are talking to the right person with the right conversation...lol...
