I think a ground force would put our troops in more risk, plus it would take away infrantry away from irqa.

No more war. Enough is enough. The world survived Pakistan developing nukes, the USSR developing nukes, India developing nukes, China developing nukes. When each of these countries developed nukes, we were sure the world was coming to an end. It didn't and it won't.

So escalating the war is the best option? I don't think so. It should fall to the UN, not hostilities. If we make an unwarranted attack on Iran, the other Islamic nations would align against us...Indonesia, Phillipines, Pakistan, most of Africa and we open a bigger can of worms than we could handle. There are many countries that fear the US now and any stupidity on our part would create a whirlwind of troubles. Don't mistake our present military superiority forsuccess. We entered the war in Vietnam with the same attitude and after 20 long years went home a loser...the Korean war was much the same...did we solve anything? Look around...Mexico doesn't love us, Venezuela turned its back, Colombia is disenchanted, North Korea is not thrilled....Indonesia even limited our time in country after the big Tsunami disaster...they needed our help but didn't want us...We have been booted out of the Philippines and Japan isn't thrilled by our presence on some of their possessions. We did such a fine job in Kosovo that many hate us there too....so what do you think?

The scenario I envisage is that as the facility nears completion Israel will take it out with a surgical strike. I think Iran is totally aware of this but they are trying to take the issue to the wire. This way they get the support of their people for standing up to the West while, at the same time, getting the best possible deal from the international community for finally stopping the enrichment programme.

Honestly, I think that what would be best for everyone, would be if our stubborn, etc.... prez Bush would climb down from his "high horse" and sit down with the Iranian president and attempt to have a rational conversation. He might get a few good tips. You never know.

Attacking and killing more innocent people could not possibly be an answer to anything. What is wrong with you warmongers?

I think you're making it a hard case to win by saying that Iran can't have nuclear weapons when Israel has them, Pakistan, India, China, Russia and every NATO country in the West. Maybe we should target Mecca instead and see who jumps first.

Yeah nukes are good but we could use some of the new lasers they have and just vaporize the stuff, the reasoning behind this is the nukes pollute to much and all that fallout is just not healthy. So using the lasers is better.

I tend to agree with your assessment. Unfortunately, the cowards have placed many of their reseach facilities in bunkers directly below heavily populated areas. Now you know where Hezbollah learned their tactics...hide behind civilians.

Tactical missle strike would work just fine. And no, your not the first to think of it. Trust me when I say the pentagon has already mapped that one out and Iran is expecting it as well. Sorry nothing new under the sun.

This is a complex subject going back many years. I think reading both links below can explain it better than I can.

the only problem with that is that the iranians arnt that stupid after watching us wipe out saddam ... the facilities are deep underground and hardened ... it would take nukes to take them out ... you really want to go there? the administration is all for it ... who knows ... maybe it will have "fringe" benefits and wipe out millions of civilians with fallout ...
