I have heard through gossip (because I am currently residing in India) that gas prices are lower in America now because of the Republicans trying to win the elections again this Novermber. My question is how many of you think the gas prices will shoot straight back up as soon as elections are over?

By the end of the year, they'll be right back where they were in July. All the gas companies need to justify raising the prices is some event that makes is possible that there might be a reduction in the supply or an increase in demand. In today's global political climate, reasons for such a thing are many.

This happens almost every election. The gas price is easily controlled by the government and is very visible to the people so it is usually used as a ploy to get votes.

This tread has to do with people cutting back at the pump.
In my home area people stopped traveling as much, made some cut backs, started looking for alternative fuels and cars. I think everyone wants to find a way to not have to do business with middle east oil and have their own renewable resources for fuel that is better for our environment.

Oh and so you know Democrats in control are no better right now.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with elections, but I do believe that the prices will go back up as quickly as they came down.

It has nothing to do with that. Oil prices are much more a complex game than something so simple. You're gonna need to brush up on some economics before you start asking questions.
