Thanks for all the great reolies

I agree that life would probably be boring if everything was in perfect harmony

However the song does prompt us to imagine what it might be like and thats no bad thing

I love it and I wish the world could be like that.
I often wonder what Mr. Lennon would be doing with his time nowadays if he was still on this planet.

Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

Imagine pure genius perhaps the greatest track of all time.
The b side of Imagine was working class hero by Lennon.
The lyrics are below. What an absolute master of the pen.

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so ------- crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still ------- peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

I have to answer this as it 's such a great song.
I also love And your Bird Can Sing from the Revolver album.

The thing with IMAGINE is that on part of a video clip where you are taken from room to room in an apartment, you see the Twin Towers. It is a real wierd & emotional thing if you watch.
Can't imagine what John would have made of all the crap that's still going on.

I think people forget that he was saying "Imagine" all these things just for a moment to see world as a more simple place...I don't the song is anti-religion or anti-government" like some do. I think it could do a lot of good these days if more people took a moment to "imagine" a world without conflict, disagreement and all the things which make us different.

It is a very beautiful song. John Lennon was a great artist he expressed his true feeling and didn't care what anyone thought.

An interesting question to ask of people. So often we go through our lives never asking "What if?"

I believe that we need to either decide that we are going to take all the resources and use them for humans, or decide that we might try and include other species too.

well,as most people know,John was a socialist, as in the share and share alike way of thinking. He thought people would be happy without countries because they would fight over land. he thought people would be happy with no religion because it was yet another reason to fight for most people, and it caused people to be afraid to go against religion out of fear of punishment. No possessions he thought is a great thing too, it's sense of gredd, of want, desire for things you don't really need. And it caused jealousy, which leading to fighting. It was his political beliefs in a nutshell. granted I'm spiritual, but i like the lack of possessions, the lack of materialism. If everyone could be more closer to freeing themselves of such silly wants, things might be a little better

Living life in peace--hmm, tell me something, when you are living life in peace, are you happy? No drama in life?--sounds a little boring, I am not a dramatic person, but we all need a little action in life. If there is no wrong and there is no right, then we are all right. Makes life so easy that there would be no reason to live. The song to me sounds like a person who dreams of nonexistance. I like living, I wish people would quit dreaming of this peace thing--we all perceive peace differently. Everyone can live in peace--with themselves. Start there and the whole world would be a better place. When you are at peace with yourself, it shows to the rest of the world and they too will strive for it.
If we were all immortal, I would say that the whole world should strive for common ground. Unfortunately, we all die and so does our view for peace. Others will believe like us, but not all at the same time. --By the way, I thought the song was wrote by a very sad man.
