Because it is the law... That's the quick easy answer
The more complex answer is because without a drivers license you can not get insurance you can be ticketed, fined, have the car you are driving impounded and be sent to jail for not having a license...

It is illegal in ALL states to drive without a license. It proves that you have taken a driver's safety course (If under the age of 18), and that you know and understand the rules of the road (By taking and passing your written test, and that you can physically pass an actual driver's test. When someone loses (Gets their license suspended) their license, it just means that they have not paid their fines, or they owe back child support, but they can still be in big trouble.

Drivers License is a privelidge not a right to have. You got to earn it. You have to show you know how to read the many different signs on the roads and on cars and what they mean. You have to show that you know how to drive and park. So that you dont cause any wrecks. If you drive w/o a license, it's against the law. And you are putting other peoples , and their cars at risk, b/c you may not know what your doing. Basically you got to earn the trust that you know what your doing and you know how to drive in many conditions, IT'S JUST DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE. (if you have not got one apparently it's b/c you can't or haven't earned the right to have one.)

are you an idiot? no where in this country can you drive without a license, the license proves that you have taken a test and can drive with compentency, if you can drive right then take the test and get a license, and stop acting like you are too good to be in this country.

its not that you can drive WITHOUT your license present, its just that you need to actually have a license, you know, the piece of plastic that they give you at the court house or wherever you went to get it taht has our name and othe rinfo about you. but if you get pulled over and dont have your license present i think you have so many days to prove that you have a license and are of a legal age to be drivign and you just were having a bad day>>? not sure on that, but thats what i heard, its just common sense to have it with you, if you get in a car crash, the police or who ever finds you will know who you are and stuff....

why wait visit dmv and get a alternative this could purely cost you a pair of dollars. it fairly is under the worry in case you get stopped. An officer can confirm a valid license via a client # or your ss#. in some states you would be charged for not have it with you whilst working a vehicle

not just in the state of florida, everywhere, because first of all, this proves that you have not been properly trained and tested to even be on the road with families and people! and 2nd of allyou have to have id on you at all times! you get a ticket if an officer asks for your id and you are over 18 and dont have one!
Hope you are not doing this..

NO state will allow you to drive w/o a license. If you just forgot your DL at home, it is not dangerous per se, just irresponsible. If it is that you don't have one at all it is dangerous because you probably don't have insurance either.
