Ok, So i'm 21 and was having my period reguarly up until July of 2005. I'm deffinitly not pregnant! What could be wrong with me?? I dont have health insurance & dont have the cash to put up-front at my doctors. Could I go to the ER and get checked out & would they give me the same check up that a doctor could give me?

If you've experienced any trauma then this could be the reason. Otherwise, it could be something more serious and you really need to see a gynocologist regardless of insurance. Your health is more important!

Go to the ER. They will send you a bill, but most hospitals will give you a greatly reduced discount or not hold you responsible at all if you don't have insurance. They would give you the same check up, if not more than your doctor would. They might also order an ultrasound or a CT scan. Why did you wait so long, go to a doctor soon.
Are you under a great deal of stress or exercise to much or have an eating disorder that would cause this?

Becka, I'd say you need to see a doctor. Now, as to how you're going to do that, I don't know. I've always had insurance, so I don't know the procedures of getting free medical care. However, I would try to find out if there are any free clinics, etc. Are you a runner, or do you excercise heavily? I used to be a 5-mile-a-day runner, and some of the girls/women I ran with would reach a point that they quit having periods, and found out it was nature's way of conserving energy. But, to answer your last question, I think any respectable doctor would give you a thorough examination, whether it was free or not.

You need to see a Dr this is why I say we are lucky here in Australia as we have medicare that covers all if not most of the Dr's bills some Dr's you have to pay but get most of that money back. If a Dr that bulk bills you pay about $10 up front and most of the GPs do this. Anyway in the E.R you would also been seen by a Dr and yes I would say he would cheek you out and have the same test done that a GP would in his rooms.

ER would have a doctor check you out, and you would get billed later. Its basically the same check up, except it takes about 10 times as long, most of the time, because so many people are there.

you might try to make an appointment at your local Planned Parenthood. Although they are mostly know as an "Abortion Clinic" they are equipped to handle a wide variety of problems related to reproductivity. They are very knowledgable and only ask for a donation. I don't think you will be dissapointed with the quality of their services.

If you are very thin or in serious athletic training that can affect your period. If you have unusually low body fat content , your period can cease until you gain weight.

The E.R. will give the same kind of treatment. Or maybe there a county clinic. There is programs that can help if you do not make much money then government might be able to help so you can afford health treatment. I would not wait before you get medical help.

I don't know where you are located but I think your best bet if you are in the US is to contact a Planned Parenthood in your area. And no you don't need to be pregnant to use their services. They would probably be your best bet to finding the free or low cost services you need. If you are unable to locate or get in contact with Planned Parenthood there should be a number of free or low cost clinics within any city in the US for those who cannot afford medical care. Good luck.

Find out if there is a doctor in town who could see you at a reduced price. Call the local hospital and ask them if they know someone you could go to.
