Generally yes, as long as you are : a civilized person (do not provoke fights), do not show off (especially your wallet & too much jewelries), & knows how to mingle with people, you are safe in my country.
we comfortably speak english : a very important thing when travelling is that you can communicate well with the people around you. The people especially in rural areas are very friendly, some even welcome you graciously in their homes, even if they do not know you well (that's how hospitable we are. what a brag, but it's true).
For metropolitan areas, Makati, Ortigas, The Fort & Libis are the special places to be. Being with a Filipino friend (i am under the impression you have one & that's why you are visiting us) will do lots of help.
(Anyway, nobody's safe anywhere, even in your own country, right? What a pessimist)
Well, I do hope i answered your question in a Filipino point of view and in an unbiased way

Yes, the Philippines is pretty much safe. Just be careful south, that's where most of the kidnappings are.
Anyway, just don't show off your money, you are likely to get mugged if you do so, and stick to the more affluent parts of the Philippines.
I've been to Eastwood City, Fort Bonifacio Global City and my dad recently bought a condo in Soho Central. The Philippines is becoming very much westernized. However, if you go to the province, you will find that people still value their origins are not so much westernized as the city.
Also, the women there love foreigners. You never know, you might end up with a filipina wife and a kid in 9 months time. ;-D
Oh, if you want sex, visit "Air Force One", it's like a brothel sort of thingy, but more like a club.

Of course! Is it safer than New York? Yes! But just like everywhere else, there are bad & good, modern & old fashioned, fast & laid back, rural & urban, and whatever you want to experience..except snow! The thing is, you'll never get lost! Everyone will get out of their way to help and point you towards home. This isn't an exaggerate. Filipinos are friendly! Also, us being asians,(obviously) our food is quite different. So you have to be an adventurist not only in the places you visit but in each delicacy each place offers. At the end of day, you'll not only come out richer in knowledge about the Philippines but also in friends and "family". Happy trekking and God speed.

These days, it seems not safe for a Westerner to travel outside his own country. If you are English, it ain't safe for you to travel within your own country. You have so many Muslims there, you can't walk a block without running into one and him demanding you say that Osama ibn Laden is a great man.

Yes, definitely. Even in Mindanao (Muslim area), only those in remote villages were government troops are pursuing the outlawed Abu Sayyaf Group and MILF rebels. But the rest of the countries are peaceful. It is sad to note, that news are very exaggerated when it comes to peace and order situation in the Philippines.

Well,i was there 2 years ago, stayed in manila-makati for 2 weeks, and then boracay.I show a lot of gurds carring arms, and checking people in and out of the malls, due to terorism.I never felt threated in philippines, but then again we have to use our comont seance and dont go to far in to the very lockal areas.I will definatly go again. For a first timer i reccoment the island of boracay. Is just wonterfull.one of the best islands in the world and definatly very very safe.Good luck to all.

of course it is.. But don't expect that it is safe by 100 percent. Of course, you'd need to take care of yourself. Don't trust strangers too much especially those who may sound like they need something from you. Stay away from them. When in the Philippppines, don't act like you're lost but act like you belong.
When it comes to health, you won't need to worry. Filipinos are bath-takers anyway so we can possibly get rid of some viruses. We must worry (just kidding).

it all depends where you want to visit. i believe there are different levels of safety when you are in the busy commercial and shopping center in makati; or walking along the busy bar and restaurant area in ermita; or in a small quite town in cotabato in mindanao. philippines is so big and one is to expect various levels of safety.
