I am seeking some help on my washing machine.

The water just keeps infuse and won't stop; and it would not start washing either. If I turn the knob to SPIN, I seem to be able to force it start spinning, however, I notice there is water leak from the bottom.

Anyone know what might be the problem? Thank you so much.

The water leak may be the result of the pressure switch hose being pulled off of the connection on the side of the outer tub. This would also keep the water filling and not shut off.

The pressure of the water in the tub forces air up that tube and that is how the machine knows when to turn the water off and turn the motor on.

Had the same problem with a 2 year old Whirlpool washer last month. There is a microswitch controlled by the lid. You will need to ask for a lid switch. About $30.00. There are two screws that secure the control panel on top of the cabinet at each end on the rear side of the cabinet. DO NOT TRY TO TAKE THE BACK OFF THE MACHINE LIKE OLDER MACNINES. If you do this the whole damn cabinet will collapse like a "house of cards".TRUST ME! Remove the back of the control panel and you will see the lid switch on the left side of the lid which is concealed by the control panel housing. You must lift the lid completely to remove the switch without breaking it. Lift the lid and the switch can be easily removed. Replace switch ( with open lid) and reassemble the control panel. Be sure to unplug washer prior to opening control panel. Be sure to connect the wires to the lid switch exactly as they were removed. Hope this helps

There is a water level sensor that has gone bad or is clogged. When my washer did that I could not fix it myself. I called a repairman and he replaced a plastic tube that ran along the outside of the wash tub, to near the top. This is what detected the proper water level. I looked at the old tube and could find nothing visably wrong. All I know is the new tube fixed the problem.

There are mechanisms in the washer that make the water stop filling with what ever level you choose as well makes the washer go through its cycles.

You need to call a repair place to come and service your washer, I would not do it yourself. If you have home owners insurance I would see if your washer is covered in your policy. If not "Sears" is very good at repairs and guarantees there work. They are very reliable and should be very proficient.

Appliance guy may have your best answer. Something else might be you have a mouse inside the control head and has eaten a hole in the water level control tube and the water leak is secondary.

Unfortunately you do need a repairman. Ask your friends and neighbors to see if you can find an independent who can fix it for you. If you can't, try to call Whirpool, they maintain a list of authorized servicemen in your area. Good Luck
