Keep my mouth shut, hide it, then in about a year or so, start spending it!

First, I would go to the police to be sure that the money was neither counterfeit nor stolen. I would ask their advice. If the money was real, then I would probably put an advertisement in the paper giving the location where I found the bag and describing the bag itself, without giving any information as to the contents of the bag. I'm not sure just how long I would keep the advertisement. That's another question I would ask the police.
If, after following all of these steps, I received no response the notice in the paper, I would go to a lawyer for advice on how to handle the money. But, for sure, one thing I would do is bring my 88-year old dad home from the healthcare facility where now resides and provide for him 24-7 care in his home environment.

First I would verify that the money is real. Then I would hold it for a while to see if its reported stolen or missing. If some mobster doesnt come to my door within a month then Id put 700,000 into savings/investments and the rest Id splurge on Charity and luxuries.

I'd hope I would take it the police....who knows who's watching eh?? GOD of all people! If they took and it and gave none back to me, then ya know, I never really had it to begin with.
