Don't blame spellcheck. You're on the internet. You can look things up.
But to answer your question, polygamy is illegal. I'm not sure why tlc can do such a show, I'm assuming this must be a reality-type show and not scripted?

Its illegal. However in Colorado City in Arizona there is a group that they r marrying the girls at 14 to 59 yr. old men!!! The head guy was just arrested for child abuse or something. Marriage is a legal and public union, not a religious union. People don't get married to get religion.

Polygamy is technically illegal, but not strictly enforced. The law against polygamy is there to protect a man from marrying two women without either knowing about it. (just an example) There are no laws about needing to be faithful to one person when married. Extramarital affairs are completely legal. So, extra "wives" can be legal too, you just can't legally marry them. This is why they aren't arrested.
They are arrested however if they "marry" underage girls. This is actually illegal as it's statutory rape.

Polygamy in many countries is illegal. But will it warrant an arrest is another issue. It would definitely result in a strained relationship with existing partner, and possibly a divorce. If it's done with abandon, it might result in STD or HIV AIDS.

Depends on land law and religious law, for muslims they could marry N number wives and treated them equally, but christians wont allow next marriage (actuals), becuase marriage contract was established by christ, the Hindus law is not permitting polygammy although it was practised in olden days, until impotency, insanity etc has complain by one among the partners.

Yes it is, well at least in Canada and USA. Did you not hear of John Warren Seed. He is that Mormon fundamentalist that believes in polygamy and he has been arrested and charged with criminal charges.
