Why the hell does everybody try to be a critic to USA Basketball when they clearly have the best players in the world? US lost one fluke game to Greece, who by the way got thrashed in the finals, and everybody has something to say. USA basketball is still the best in the world, if anyone thinks otherwise, they are in denial. Why do you think all the international players want to play in the US? The US will be back and win the Olympic Gold.

I think our problem is that we have the most talented players in the world, but we don't necessarily put together the best teams as a unit. Other squads have been together for years playing with each other, complimenting one another's skills with equal balance. This in comparison to our teams in which we take the superstar players from each NBA team who don't normally play with each other. And now our teams are lacking 3 point shooters and defensive players. The best players in the world are the reasons why international players come: to see if they can stack up to them. But on the worldwide stage we have to take our talent and use it correctly to form a great team full of great athletes instead of an okay team with great athletes. I'm not sure the world hates us, though the press here may be critical because we have not proven ourselves as dominant when we had the legendary players of the "Dream Team"

the world doesnt hate USA basketball. they (me included) just think it's lame and very pitifully childish to call NBA champions world champions and not be able to win real world championships! by the way, that wasnt a fluke game they lost to Greece. they got outplayed and they got beaten square. I agree with you that USA has the best players in the world, but still got beat by Greece without a single NBA player. ha! Why do all international players want to play in the NBA? Simple. They get paid a lot more than if they played anywhere else.

USA has lost a lot of respect in the international community because of their foreign policy. in the process also made a lot of disappointed poeple around the world which translated to hate. Though this has nothing to do with basketball really but it is the mentality of human to hate everything about someone/something they hate. You can't really please everybody no matter how good your intentions are. They will always think you have some hidden agenda.
USA basketball is still the best when it comes to pro hoops but they are still lacking in international gameplay. The bright side is the USA is improving enormously and i think they are good for gold came olympics.
Just add some shooters there and USA is basketball invincible.

because americans are very arrogant, and they boast so much about their sports, but lose. many americans were saying that usa will win the group stage in the football world cup, but they could not win a single match. NBA may be good, but americans are not suitable for international play, where the rest of the world is superior

the best of the US wont play like the original Dream Team.....
that was the best.... Malone, Stockton, Bird,. Dominque, Jordan, except for Latener. he didnt play much....
but, they didnt care about money, or saying they were hurt, they wanted to represent the US and they did that. now we have to dig up players and coaches.
Coach K, give me a break. he didnt coach those games. he just made subsitutions

i think people who are not US citizens are jealous and they always hate everything America does. As for basketball, every one is dying to play in the US sure.
