ok now you may think this is goofy~but it does work and it helps you to sleep more relaxed. this is something my mom taught me when i was little and had leg cramps/growing pains.
only i never really tried to do it the way she said until i was an adult and that is when it worked for me.
you start out at your toes~silently you tell them to "go to sleep, relax". then you move up to the arches of your feet and repeat the phrase "go to sleep, relax." then your ankles, your shins, your knees, identifying each segment of your body and telling it to go to sleep. as i am inching my way up my body, i can feel little twitches and tics in my muscles and by the time i get to my neck, i am already relaxed enough that i usually pass out. all the while you are doing this you are concentrating so fully on what you are doing that everything else just kind of leaves your mind, (temporarily, but still)
don't knock it until you try it~it really does work.

Things always seem worse when you are lying there in bed obsessing about them. Keep a notebook by your bed. Write down what is worrying you, then try to let it go. Look at it tomorrow and try to come up with a solution.

Or, read until you are tired, then try to go right to sleep. It will help take your mind off the issues.

Invest or illegally download some audio books. They'll keep your mind off of your anxieties and you'll slowly drift off into sleepy land. I listen to tapes from the Harry Potter series every night when going to sleep.

1. Avoid caffeine after about 4 pm (this includes Cokes).
2. Get enough exercise.

These 2 work for me.

Also, the notebook trick mentioned above works for a friend of mine.

Good luck.

You can't think of 2 things at once......think about pleasant things, count sheep, think about floating in space. think about being cuddled in a bed of roses...................
