I am looking to buy a server. I have no clue on what to buy. With my vast knowledge of regular computers but none for servers!! (Except how they work)

I am looking at IBM/DELL/HP servers atm... Also whats a good server program?? Windows Server 2003 or Linux?? Or any other programs. TY :) PS. I Will choose a best answer.

Go with Dell servers and Intel Xeon processors... for the OS, either will work, but Windows 2003 will be easier to get around.(unless you're really experienced with Linux).

Definitely get a Dell. I've been working with these for a few years now and they have never let me down. I would also recommend Windows Server 2003 since it is more widely used. Although, an experienced Linux admin can do wonders with Linux as well.

HP Proliant. Never liked Dell - feels like K-Mart product.

Windows Server 2k3 or Linux? It depends on how you are going to use the server.
