My parents seem to think that guy-girl friendships don't last long. That they have to either go one way or another eventually. I have lots of close guy friends, and I think it's very possible for a young guy and girl to be good friends, even best friends without the relationship going beyond friendship. What do you think?

If the girl & the boy do not have it already on their minds and enter in to a platonic friendship, they can stay friends forever. Unfortunately, this rerely happens. Most of the times, the two come together under the banner of 'friendship' for the other motive, considering that the friendship is a foundation for love. If this is not the case with you, go ahead. As far as dating is concerned; you do not have to date a friend whom you are not considering for love. Of course, you can meet each other socially. Dating is something else.

My best friends name is John. We met when we were 13. We have been best friends ever since. We have never had sex or any encounter that related to anything more than a friendship. We have even been room-mates and vacationed with each others spouses. You can be best friends with a guy starting at your age. just respect the boundaries of friendship. BTW...John and I are both 37 now and still best friends...nothing more.

I repeat your words you told that your parents are seem to friendship don't last long .ya this is true for them bcoz they are our parents and you become that you are also like them,ya this is true bcoz we are human and are not god so future is uncertain everything is possible but if you should have strong feelings and a good relation like sweet relation of friendship then just freely try to convince them your idea and that you think to them just they are some good friend not you your family member .I know this is very difficult but not impossible I had also try bcoz I have so many friends from age of 10 to 63 and they send me so many letters and email so my parents just tell me like this type of question and that time I come to know that whats actually matter.ya now a days I make so many gal friends and they are not my age so elders and Yonkers .That's not a big problem for any one if you are a friendly nature then all problems are seem to be a friends smile OK just try .

Yes surely,it is possible but for that it is necassary to maintain such a friendly atmosphere b/w the 2 so that no one of te 2 can have a feeling of that kind 7 the relationship is maintained life long.we can see many people remains friends after marriage also.

Never. The matter is how long the true friendship can exist without dating. It may differ pair to pair but there is the certain end of dating unless or otherwise the friendship gets weaker.

They may be good friends even without any specific relations. But sex does not come for maintaining long last true friendship

I think that in the back of your mind you will always wonder what it would be like to actually be with her or him. A lot of good solid relationships start with being close friends first! Be careful, you could end up getting hurt or hurting someone else!

of course it's possible. growing up a majority of my friends were always guys, i guess that's still true. I actually didn't have many female friends until high school and then it started because they wanted to date one of my guys. My best friend in high school was a guy and I loved him like a brother. And that's all it ever was.

100% is great but i think you should really try & date, but dont make it every weekend, maybe once a month, to keep the GOOD FRIENDSHIP. LET HIM KNOW when you see him next that you want to date & does he, then tell him it cannt be every weekend, as ur both tring to keep ur folks happy that both of you are still together after 1 full yr. as friends, then maybe you 2 will be merried, but hope he wont turn you down after you say that it might only be a once a month time going out.... yes this is really possible as long as you two are nt attracted to each other.
well i can tell you that it is great to have a guy-gal rltionshp as you get the best of both worlds and enjoy the most!!
