Does this make sense to anyone? I see lots of nice things on Ebay where they supposedly only cost .01. What's the deal?

when people know that other people won't bid much on their item, they list it at a really low price so it looks like a really good deal. but they charge way too much, like $30 for shipping. this money doesn't actually pay for shipping, it goes to them. so no, you really can't get the watch for 1 cent, because you have to pay so much for shipping.

While all of the above are true Ive gotten cds and dvds on ebay for 1 cent plus normal shipping and handling. It just so happened no one else bid on the item but me.

its because listing fees are based on the price you list the item for and the final value fee as well , selling an item for a penny is what people do so as not to encur as many ebay fees , be careful of these auction because what they do is charge a high amount rfor shipping , ebay cant take fees for your shipping charge , same thing goes for when an item starts at a penny , if its a good item and you know people want it and it has cartian value that you know it will most likley fetch then you just start the auction at one cent.............

They ding you with the shipping costs. If you notice a lot of these things carry a very inflated Shipping and handling price tag. I have seen some in excess of 20 dollars for cheesy poorly made products.

You bid on them. You put in one cent and it might say that you didn't meet the sellers price...the seller already has an agreed upon price that he/she is willing to sell for but they start the bidding at .01...so you put that in and it will tell you when you have met the price...you keep going higher and higher until you do or you give up altogether and other people will also try to outbid you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Oh, you're serious?

1. They charge outrageous shipping costs. Unless you want to pay 30 bucks for s+h.

2. The items might be stolen merchandise.

3. By the time the item closes, the bidding price may sky rocket.

Two things...

That could be the starting bid but well below the reserve

If the item is 1 cent they *will* screw you on shipping

That is all

Either thats just the starting bid, and obvioulsly people are going to bid higher than that, otherwise the shipping charges are proably outrageous and thats where they make their money from?!?!?
