Component cables are used to carry a video signal only, they will come in the color of green/red/blue and must be hooked up to a tv that has component in.Remeber this a source for your picture only, you'll need to provide an audio source as well.Check the manual of yor dvd or tv for proper use of component cables

They are another type of video cable. Component video uses three coaxial lines, usually color coded red, green, and blue, with RCA connectors at the ends. Note that this is different from RGB video, in case that comes up!

I've attached a link to the Component video cables that my company carries, just so you can see what they look like, but you'll find these are available at most places that carry video electronics. Some places will say that different grades of cable are better than others but my experience is that they're all about equal out of the box. Go with a company you trust and a price that is fair and you won't be disappointed.

Some people will mention that the component video is better than other video types. And actually, that's true! Component is better than S-Video and RF video, but RGB video is better than component. Most DVD players and other peripheral equipment doesn't offer RGB, though. Bottom line: you should use component video to connect to your TV if it is offered and supported on both your TV and Wii, but if it is not, don't sweat it.

I've also attached a link to a tip on my company's web site with some details about the difference between RGB and other video types.

Blue green and red used just for picuture not sound.

This cable you could say is double the quality of regular DVD watching compared to the cables that came in the box.

Here's why: Progressive Scan.

With your current cables you are watching only half of the screen resolution capability at a given time. Every micosecond you are watching the other half. Ever notice pictures of TVS and monitors
always show black lines?

The lines go back and fortha so quickley that humans don't really notice something is missing. However, something is missing.

With these kind of cables or with S-video you can actually see all the lines at all times , leadin to higher clarity and quality.

But something is missing and the picture is going to be fuzzier
