For the first equation 2/9(x+3) = 1/3(x+8):
Step one: Use the distributive property to figure out the left side of the equation. 2/9 multiplied by x = 2/9x. 2/9 multiplied by 3 = 6/9 (simplified is 2/3). So, now we have (2/9x)(2/3) = 1/3(x+8).
Step two: As done in step one, use the distributive property to solve the right side of the equation. 1/3 multiplied by x = 1/3 x. 1/3 multiplied by 8 = 2 2/3. We now have (2/9x)(2/3) = (1/3x)(2 2/3).
Step three: Subtract (1/3x) from both sides of the equation. That will leave you with (-1/9x)(2/3) = 2 2/3.
Step four: Subtract 2/3 from both sides of the equation. That will leave you with -1/9x = 2.
Step five: Divide each side of the equation by -1/9 in order to find out what x equals. -1/9 divided by -1/9 crosses out, and 2 divided by -1/9 = -18. The final answer is x = -18.
I am not solving the second equation, as it is your homework, and it involves the same concept that I went over.

Girl, you had better ask your teacher for help if you can't solve this stuff.
1.) Isolate the x's on either side of the equation. Tod do this simply subtract the entire quantity on the right and set the remaining eq to 0.
(2/9)(x+3)-[(1/3)(x+8)] = 0
Distribute the fractions and DON"T forget the negative sign.
so (2x/9) + (6/9) - (1x/3) - (8/3) = 0
Now put like terms together. Find the LCD of 3 and 9 (9, of course)
2x/9 - 3x/9 = -1x/9 and 6/9 - 24/9 = -18/9 = -2
Now -(1x/9) - 2 = 0
Take the 2 to the right side by adding 2 to both sides and you get
-1x/9 = 2 Now multiply both sides by 9 to eliminate the fraction on the left side. The result is -1x = 18. Divide both sides by the -1 and you get x = -18.
Your on your own for the second. That takes too long.

2/9(x+3) = 1/3(x+8)
equals 2x/9 + 6/9 = x/3 + 8/3 now bring all terms to a common denominator 9,
equals 2x/9 + 6/9 = 3x/9 + 24/9 now remove the common denominator,
equals 2x + 6 = 3x + 24 now bring the x to left side of equal and digits to right side
equals 2x-3x = 24-6
or -x = 18
or x = -18
2)-4/7(x-4)=1/14(-x-3)
equals -4x/7 + 16/7 = -x/14 - 3/14
bring to common denominator 14
equals -8x/14 + 32/14 = -x/14 -3/14
equals -8x + 32 = -x -3
equals -8x + x = -3 -32
equals - 7x = -35
or x = -35 / -7 = 5

1. 2/9(2+3) = 1/3(x+8)
therefore 2x+3/9 = x+8/3 cross multiply both side
give u 3(2x+3)=9(x+8)
6x+9=9x+72
subtract +9 from both side
6x=9x+72-9
6x=9x+63
subtract +9x from both side
6x-9x=63
-3x=63
divide both side by -3
Answer is -21
