Your past is never your present, but your present will quickly become your past. The present is infinitely brief. The future hurtles toward the present, and it becomes the past, at the time of 'impact'. Or something.
But what does that have to do with her grandmother passing away?

I am very sorry for your friend. Losing a Grandparent is tough. She will morn the loss for a while, after that encourage her to live today and enjoy the memories of her Grandmother and keep moving forward. I can guarantee you, that her Grandmother would want her to move on.

The past is the past, the present is today, and tomorrow is the future. She can look forward to the future and enjoy the present and don't worry about the past, because it's gone.
