Well, I have had a LOT of experience with diaper rash....JOY....a yeast rash will not go away with regular zinc creams, and it looks ALMOST like a really nasty bad heat rash. There are little red bumps that satellite out, and keep spreading. If you happen to notice that the bumps are raised, or it feels rough when you are putting on creams, then it is probably a yeast rash. BUT you will need a prescription for a anti-fungal cream from the dr if it is a yeast rash, so your best bet is to go to the dr anyways. Not all yeast rashes have any other symptoms, a lot of times, there is just a rash, no thrush, or smelly pee or anything like that. Just best to see a dr.

Yeast Infections: If the rash is bright red or does not respond to 3 days of warm water cleansing and air exposure, suspect a yeast infection.

If a yeast infection is to blame, you'll notice tiny red spots that multiply and mass into a raised, patchy bright or dark red rash with distinct borders. There are also frequently small, red spots around the edges of the main rash. The affected area is red and may be tender or painful, and the rash can creep into the folds of skin around your child's genitals and legs. It almost never appears on the buttocks.

if the baby has thrush then its a big possibility that it could be a yeast infection. but if not you can tell because a yeast infection is more like little bumps. depending on how bad it is it could look similar to poison ivy.a diaper rash isnt bumpy. if your not sure then ask your peditrition. its nothing to worry about a lot, its common. if it is a yeast infection then the doc could give you a cream for it. hope i helped you out.

we just went through this. i thought it was diaper rash and was putting a and d cream on it and it didn't clear up at all, which got me worried. it was red bumps when his diaper rash was usually red skin with bumps if that makes sense. basically it didn't look as inflamed as his diaper rash had. i looked up pictures online and some yeast infections do look pretty inflamed so.... I would say obviously call the dr. but if you put some diaper rash cream on tonight and let him go with out a diaper to let stuff dry out and it doesn't look improved he may have a yeast infection. it wasn't a big deal we got a rx and in a couple days it was gone, but the dr did say if i hadn't brought him in it can spread quite dramatically

One is to see if it has gone into the fat rolls. If the fat rolls and any other creases are red and irritated by the yeast then it is more than diaper rash as the yeast like to hide in dark places.

The appearance. Depends on male or female. The male is a bit harder to detect, but usually appears around the rectal area and will move around the sac. A female will chaff as well. I would consult a physician. In the case of my boys, I was instructed by my pediatrician to use Gynolotromin for athletes foot on their bottoms. HOWEVER, if it is NOT a yeast infection this will HARM YOUR CHILD!!! See your dr. asap. Cut down on high citric foods and drinks, water them down. Good Luck. Also, for comfort, use a warm washcloth and dab, NOT WIPE, the area rather than the wipes. Wipes will burn their bottoms.
