When someone mistakes you for a walking mural, then I'd say that's a tad bit too many.

Too many for what?

It's a personal choice. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' number, just like there's no way to say what is the proper eye colour, or length of hair.

Some people can have multiple tattoos, and still look cool &/or elegant.

Other people can get just one, and still look like a total prat.

The skill and artistry of the tattoos has a lot of bearing on their acceptability too.

A single crudely rendered Tweety Bird in the middle of your forehead can pretty much destroy any credibility you have in any social circle, while the twenty flaming skeletal snakes riding motorcycles with naked girls up the inside of your inner thighs can remain a secret between you and whoever you choose to share the imagery with.

I used to work in a state hospital, and the psychiatrist would classify anyone with 4 or more tattoos as a person with anti-social personality disorder...I think that is crazy since in this day and age..4 tattoos is not that many...I do not think it is too many until you feel you are done with your body art..whatever works for you.

Never too many!

I have 6 and plan to get many more. My only personal requirement is that EACH tatoo means something to me a GREAT DEAL and that I am sure that I will live my live according to my beliefs. I will not get a meaningless tattoo ever. I will always only get tattoos that hold a special meaning to me and know that I will feel that way foreve.r

When you have to get an exact replica, full body tattoo of "yourself" over your existing tattoos to make room for more tattoos, you have too many!!!

It depends on the person and how many they want. If someone wants none... thats cool.... if they want a full body suit... good for them....I myself have 15 and want a lot more... others might think that is too many but they don't have a say in that...lol
