it is true that napster was more centralized but it is not true that they hosted the illegal content....the real reason napster was shut down was that as soon as the riaa realized wat was going on the industry shat its pants and no one really understood how napster worked (its kinda like a series of tubes and definately not like a dump truck)
but anyways limewire won their court case by arguing that they didnt make the illegal content, just a computer language for people to share files and whenever u download limewire u check a box legaly stateing that u will not infringe copyright law with their software(even though there isnt much else on limewire)
and if u have an unsecured wireless connection (wireless internet without a password) in your house your pretty much off the hook cause u can say that someone else used your internet connection to ingringe copyright law.

The Gnutella network is a lot less centralized. Limewire, Morpheus, Bearshare, etc operate a little differently from the old Napster. This isn't to say they will always be around, look at Grokster, but they are harder to shut down. I use them to find older and more obscure music that isn't available for legal download.

if you use limewirebe sure to turn the sharing option off because that is what the riaa is looking for feeders not leechers also buy every last cassette tape/ record and you can get your hands on even scratched cds because that gives you the legal rights to posess one backup copy i.e. a burnt cd which you can download from limewire. fyi using limewire is only illegal if you dont own a copy of the source material that you intend to download.
p.s. get all the empty cases you can find which will give you the right to download even if you lost the media because for all the feds know someone stole the cassette/record and or cd

Napster had central servers which stored the copyrighted files... Limewire has NO servers and every copyrighted file is in the computer of the user, thats why Limewire cannot be sued or shutdown. (sine technically, they dont have any copyrighted files).
