I have dry erase boards and children! When black marker gets where it doesn't belong, stuck on the dry erase board, walls, clothing and even the white carpet (of all places), I use hairspray! It has to be the kind that sprays out, not a pump.

For the dry erase board: Keep spraying and washing in between with window cleaner.

For walls: Spray with one hand holding the cloth under neath and get ready to wipe it fast with a wet sponge. DO NOT LET IT RUN DOWN THE WALL!

For clothing: Hold the clothing up and spray heavy about 3 or 4 inches from the material. It will "melt it" right before your eyes. then toss right away into a washer, making sure that it is the first thing being put into the washer. Then when it is full of water, you can add the rest of the clothes.

For carpeting: Spray heavy, and then use a carpet cleaning machine. Or if without a carpet cleaning machine, have a bucket of water, luke warm, and a sponge already there before you start. Using paper towels first, keep pushing down with the paper, then spray again. When most is gone, use the sponge with ivory soap to wash well. Left over ivory soap normally dries that can be vacuumed up later and does not stain the carpet.

I work in a rig camp and had to make a new map on our board with permanent marker. The best thing I found (believe it or not) is hairspray. IT WORKS. There may be a mild bit of bruising where the marker was but it will be dull. You have to wash the board with windex after to get rid of the sticky residue. But it really works, guaranteed.

First take a dry erase marker and color over the permanent marker. while it is still wet wipe it off. Repeat it again if needed. Keep in mind it will not come completely off. A light discoloration maybe left behind.

if the stain is small and you want to clean it right away, simply use a REAL dry erase marker and write/color over the stain and it will go away.

Alcohol and spray work too, for bigger messes.

But at Office Depot and places like that, they sell a liquid especial for this type of mess that even lift the faint trace of color that the other methods might leave behind.

It is a good product to keep handy.

Use that Mr. Clean magic eraser. i can't remember it's exact name, but it is like a little sponge. It is white and it is AMAZING!!! It took marker off my wall so i imagine it would take it off blackboard too.
Good luck

clorox clean-up. Just make sure you do not scrub the area and ruin the white board. A quick spray, not a soaking should do the trick.

Magic eraser and if that don't work try a paste made from baking soda and water and rub gently..
