My hubby had a vasectomy years ago. We were young and other methods had failed us, 3 times. Now we are established and secure, my husband wants another baby. How would we go about it? Are their options?

Some answers have mentioned sperm harvest... anybody know more about that?

And does anybody know more about trading my eggs for services?

I'm pretty sure he should still be making sperm, they are just never released. They die after three days, so you may be able to have artificial insemination if you are still carrying healthy eggs. that is if he is willing to have them to go in and remove them surgically, also, you could trade some of your healthy eggs for the procedure to women and their partners that want children but she cannot conceive. It's a lot of thought and good luck to you both on a healthy child. Plus, if he can keep the vasectomy you won't have to worry with birth control again.

You would need a referral to a specialist in microsurgery. They would need to consider the way the vasectomy was done and see if it was feasible to reverse it.

Usually there is a fair to middling chance of reversal because the vasectomy involved just a cut, loop around of the ends and a tie up and it's a matter of undoing the ends, pulling them together and stitching the ends together.

In some cases - particularly if there has been a repeat vasectomy - the initial surgery has been very thorough and it is not possible to rejoin the ends. In this case, the chances of reversal are very small.

See your usual doctor and talk about it with them to get the referral to the specialist.

If the vasectomy cannot be reversed, then there are other ways to conceive. They involve sperm harvest and artificial means of conceiving.

Vasectomies can be reversed, not as easy as reversing the same process for a female. Sperm can be harvested straight from the vescules in the testes. Much of this would take a fertility specialist to happen

In some cases the vasectomy can be reversed, but not always. There is a way to harvest the sperm by using needles, but it's complicated and not exactly my idea of a great time. Why do you need more kids anyway?

Ask your family Doctor for recommendations. There certainly are Doctors who specialize in reversing vasectomies, and they would be your best bet. Good luck!

The operation can be reversed. It is not 100% that it will succeed though. The doctor goes in and reattaches the severed Vasdesverns. (Those little tubes that pass the polliwogs.) It is not cheap either.

You pretty much do it the same way as before the vasectomy.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Google "vasectomy reversal"

They would have to reverse the procedure with surgery and it would be costly. And sometimes they are not able to reverse it.
