I care. I'm a member of PETA. But you would be amazed at how many people actually don't care. I know vegetarians who wouldn't lift a finger to leaflet or write a letter. It all depends on the type of person you are. You should join, not all people have the same compassion.

I care more about animals then ppl. A lot of people CARE its just its hard to feel like you can make a difference against a massive ignorant general public. They say ignorance is bliss but i think put the proper hardcore animal cruelty videos on primetime TV and show the world what really goes on - maybe then PPL will stop the cruel things that go on.

I agree 100% with you. I'm totally against it! 2 years ago I had a 6 month old siberian husky, I took her out to the bathroom one night and she ran across the road, not even 5 minutes later I heard a shot, someone (the neighbor) shot her with a 12 guage in her stomach, so we rushed her to the animal hospital only to have to put her down, we could have got her surgery but it would have cost 3000 dollars at the least and there was no guarantee she'd make it> :( It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, say goodbye to a pet, a family member right before she dies. The worst part the guy who shot her, sense I didn't "see" him shoot her, even though there was a blood trail coming from his yard, all i could do was make a police report and no charges against him for anything. So yes its completely wrong! Sorry so long

Are you kidding? Most people are against animal cruelty.
however, you must define cruelty first.
Peta simply goes too far in its campains. they are more like fanatics and terrorists about their stance. they leave no room for compromise.
and waged a terrorist like campain in the 80's by throwing paint on people who wore fur. and disavowing any connection afterwards.
they would even have you become a vegetarian when humans are not meant to be.
they will lie and tell you that humans are not meant to be carnivirous but they can't explain the canine like teeth the humans have.
we are Omnivores after all. (and i have an afinity for Venison)
We all care about animal cruelty and that is why we have laws to prevent it and punish those who commit it.
If you really want to help, give of your time to a shelter, or volunteer at a zoo or animal park. or Veterinary Clinic.
work to promote laws to protect animals. but remember, they are not FAMILY. they are not human. If fluffy was starving and you were disabled. fluffy would start to look at you differently.

I care, to an extent. I love animals and believe all of them should be treated well during the course of their lives. None should ever be subjected to any kind of needless suffering. Animal testing for medical purposes--I support that so long as it is done humanely...I DON'T support animal testing for cosmetic purposes. Animals being raised and slaughtered for food---I support that so long as they're raised humanely in reasonable conditions and the slaughter is done as humanely as possible. I support more severe punishment (sentences) for animal abusers.

I am also, however, very ANTI-PETA.

As was already mentioned, PETA is a hypocritical terrorist-like orginization who exploits money from people, and instead of using it to actually HELP animals, they use it to print brochures, pay their top execs, and so on. They were a well-intended group that lost its focus. They spend more time trying to bring the 'evils' of every animal-based industry (particularly food-based ones) to the forefront of the general public that they neglect the animals suffering and dying in shelters. They compare animal cruelty to the Jewish genocide by the Nazis---they believe animals are more important than humans...and I just can't support anyone who has such a view. I also can't support anyone who thinks animals should be free and no one should own pets, seeing eye dogs, police dogs, ect. They can't seem to grasp that MANY people love their animals and rely on them---call them companion and friend. To them, we're all just Nazis enslaving animals for our own selfish reasons...and I find that view offensive.

I for 1 have an inate abhoorance of animal cruelty and vivisection but I would never harm a person over it.
I'd rather donate to charities and research into alternatives than take a physical stance.
I would not buy products that have been tested on animals and I hate zoo's.
I do praise sanctuaries & safari parks and their keepers.

I am totally against animal cruelty. I have done many speeches on animal abuse and educated people on animal abuse. Its the sickest thing. The people who abuse animals, same who abuse people are emotionally disturbed and have physiological problems. They need to feel bigger and tougher and like to have control over someone including animals. I have nothing against PETA but some of the things they do are extreme. I don't totally agree with everything they do.

I do - Im involved in an Irish version of PETA called the ISPCA -
animal cruelty, to me is the worst form of abuse - and really its only a coward will act this way toward animals knowing that they cant retaliate or speak up for themselves.

I have been doing animal rescue and rehab for the past 11 years, primarily dogs, but I've had rescued cats, ferrets, small animals, the little wild ones like squirrels and raccoons and birds... I support a wonderful group in Montreal Canada who has rescued bio-med research chimps, and yet I still think that PETA is a disgrace..they should take all that money that they put into propaganda and actually turn it over to rescue groups and no-kill shelters... I care very deeply for the animals.. I do not care for propaganda.

I'm going to have to second what Matt Daddy said. Although PETA's intentions seem noble, they are not far removed from many other corporations that are out to make a buck. Their videos are scare tactics to make people donate money to their cause which goes to questionable resources...notably people who bomb buildings and endanger lives all for the sake of saving animals. Do NOT donate to PETA. If I had the resources to donate to an animals' rights organization, I would recommend another one, but please do not be pulled in by PETA's politics.

It's sad how much animal cruelty there is out there. I agree with you, it's wrong. I personally think that if you injure an animal, YOU should be injured. I think that until there is a more severe punishment for animal abuse, it will continue to happen. For people that say "It's just an animal", remember that the next time somebody punches or kicks you. Animals feel pain to and don't deserve to be treated badly.
