I got hired by an accounting firm. I was supposed to start work in July. I asked for an extension so that I could study for the CPA exam. The firm gave me the time off I requested. Now, I start in October, and I realize that I still NEED more time to study...I am afraid to ask for another extension of time off because they might get tired and fire me, even before I start. They were already very generous with giving me the extension of time off. Studying for the CPA exam will be harder with my work obligation on top of that...It is very time consuming...I want to start work with a clear mind thinking I passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam before I start....any suggestions for me?

ask for the extension...they can only say no and if they do you can then decide whether you want to accept the job or decline the offer so that you can continue your study. Then you can apply for another position once your exams are over and you have your CPA

once you pass the cpa exam so many other doors will open for you. tell the firm that you understand if they cannot hold your position for you and to keep you in mind once you are a cpa... ask if you can work part time or even do an internship instead. Becoming a cpa will definately pay off for you in the future.

When I had an internship at a law firm, I pretty much sat around behind a computer with no supervision. Study for it there, if your circumstances are similar.

Go to start working. You will get time to study. They are people who I know who have done two part time classes and full time of work and they did pass well. You just need to know time management.

If they want to hire you/pay you, why deny them the pleasure.
Are you scared of the responsibility.
Just lazy and scared you will have to produce.
---It is very time consuming--
are you spending every moment working towards this goal?
do you know how many people would kill for your worries.
sh!t or get off the pot.
really with all respect, quit whining and get busy.
