"Shattered Sunlight"
Shattered sunlight pierces
The silent orchard,
Merrily spreading the dawn
Across velvet gardens,
Wan in the paleness of night,
Until daybreak sings
Into the gales, cheerfully
Bidding adieu to the
Moon as it strides toward its bed
Of daylight, vanishing
Beneath faraway ridges and seas.
Morning Glories ascend
Into the sky, resurrected by the dew,
Unfolding their illustrious
Golden cities to bathe in sunbeams,
While the encircling lilacs
Batter their jewel-like eyes
To the distance, winking
To a golden-haired sun as it mounts
The steps to day.
