By calling Bush the devil, (Osama calls the USA the great satan), do you think its a way of protecting venezuela. Im not saying it'll work...just asking do you think thats what he is doing?

Like Osama will say, " hey he hates Bush too so I wont target his country."

Or what do you think?

Interesting thought, it had not occured to me. It is quite possible that is one of his motives, although it occurs to me that a good political decision for a national leader, such as calling another national leader the devil, would have to have multiple benefits, not just one. I am sure the thought had crossed his mind though :)

I think that Bush is the world's biggest terrorist, and that Cheney has three sixes somewhere on his balding head!! When someone finds the right answer to a problem, we should all get behind that person! Hugo Chavez is just telling the truth, at least about Bush!! In the end, what does it matter what other people say anyway?! Hugo Chavez may very well be a crooked liar HIMSELF!! But the fact remains that George W. Bush is a lying, murdering terrorist, and the rest of the world knows it to be a fact!! We are just too ignorant and self-involved to understand the truth!! BUSH IS A TRAITOR TO THE UNITED STATES, AND HE MUST GO!!! Wake up, all you NEO-NAZIS!! Now I know how Hitler fooled the German people--THE SAME FREAKING THING IS HAPPENING HERE AND NOW!!!

No, he is not doing it to "protect" Venezuela. He just doesn't agree with Bush, especially with the war in Iraq. I think that it's just a coincidence that Bin Laden called Bush satan. Besides, why would Bin Laden want to target Venezuela?

Chavez is an idiot that is playing the US news media for dummies. He knows sensationalism will get press coverage and uses the media to further his popularity in his own country. He thinks he is a big dog running in the world political arena and hasn't a clue. Sort of like a pesky fly at a picnic.

When it comes to being either liked or hated by these third world leaders, especially those that are sponsoring terrorism, it is much better to be disliked than liked. Given they are at a minimum simply jealous of the United States to wanting to annihilate us, it is a testament to our President to be disliked. I would much rather he be hated than kowtowing to them.

No Hugo Chavez, as the leader of a non-aligned country, can speak honestly in the interest of world peace. Bush, and his policies, have killed tens of thousands of innocent people and everyone (outsideo f the u.s.) realizes how foolish and bloodthirsty americans look. However few countries are sufficiently "independant" of U.S. interests to be able to speak curtly on such topics.

I honestly don't think thoughts of protection had anything to do with it.

I watched that speech today and it appeared to me that, while it was extreme, the man 'felt' what he was saying... he appeared fed up with USA dominance, aggression and arrogance.

I guess he just decided to speak his mind, ya know.

From the reaction in the audience with ppl shaking their heads in agreement and quite few applauds, I think he had the courage to say out loud what a lot of them are thinking.
