This is perfectly normal, I'm a GTR player and I seriously don't recommend getting rid of them in a radical way, just the dead skin not the callus itself, it may sound kinda gay lol but you need to keep your hands moisturized specially your fingertips, there's actually a balm you can buy at most guitar shops, you can also try Finger Ease if you haven't tried it yet on you fretboard, it makes it so smooth, it has helped me a lot in many different ways ..

Hope this helps.. Rock on and happy playing!!

Its normal if your playing the guitar or doing hard manual work.

You need to moisurize your hands a lot.

If you really want to get rid of it, buy a pumice stone or heal file. They sell them in the cosmectis aisle. After your shower gently scrub it with it and remove some of the dead skin. Then get a heavy cream like Bag Balm and put gloves on when you go to bed. Or if you want to skip the Bag Balm go for Amalactin 12%. They sell it at Walmart in the pharmacy (no prescription) its great for dry skin but you need to use it every day or it doesn't work. The same goes for the callus. If your going to keep playing guitar you're going to have to keep your hands moisturized daily.

yep, if you remove that skin than it will hurt to play the guitar all over again.
