Will I be able to format my hard-drive and install my O/S with my Emachines recovery CD??

It says "The restore CD is provided by Emachines and gives a complete backup of the software that was preinstalled on the PC at the factory. Should the software ever need to be reinstalled, the Restore CD will copy the necessary files onto the hard drive."

So I can format my hd and then put this CD in and boot it up?

I just dont want to be stuck with no O/S because the computer didnt come with an O/S CD, just these recovery disks. Also there is a CD key for WIndows XP on the bottom of the laptop...

Thanks

If the computer you're installing it on is an e-machine, yes.

The recovery CD typically works differently than a full bootable O/S cd. Insert the recovery and follow the instructions. You may need to restart your system with recovery cd in the drive already in order for it to work properly

"recovery" CD's usually include the O/S, since it is installed at the factory.

If you have CD's labelled "Applications", "Drivers", etc, then you need the Windows CD.
