Interesting timing - I just admitted to reading a book from the 50's called Nancy Cleans House. I pull it out when it's time to do spring cleaning; gets me inspired. Shhh!

Also the Grace Livingston Hill books. Even though I'm an atheist, I find them oddly funny and appealing.

This question reminds me of a book that I was enthusiastic about, but when I got to the final chapter, I threw the book away!

The book was called Pyramid Power. It was an interesting book, and I'm still fascinated by Pryamids. But in the final chapters the author suggests praying to the Pyramid, which is idolatry.
That totally discredited the whole book. From then on I would always read the final pages of a book before I would start reading it to see if there was any nonsense like that in it. I found lots of other books that were nonsense by doing that. There's tons of nonsense out there, so I don't read books much.
Another one was Chariots of the Gods

Not ashamed of anything I've read really, but people might look down their noses at some of it. I've read an awful lot of books in my life........

As a genre, the "bodice rippers," as they are called. The relatively explicit "historical" fiction about rapes and kidnaps that are the source of lifelong love. The basic theme is "I hate him I hate him he is so masculine I hate him I hate him He is so sexy I hate him I hate him I think I'm falling in love with him." Wears pretty thin after awhile.

Jackie Collins "Lace" - difficult to look at a goldfish after that!

However, I am PROUD to say I have never read a book by Jeffrey Archer. :-)
