What does your employee handbook say? If it says it can, you lose. It sounds like you are lucky to be employed. I live in a no reason fire state, & my husband would have let you go. It is a no warning offense in his company.

Depending on what it is, they can probably keep it if the company policy spells it out that it is not allowed. Do you mean inappropriate? Like Hustler magazine or something? I wouldn't raise a ruckus if that is what got taken away. I'd lay low and not make anymore waves.

depends, how are the rules on the lost and found. what is done with the object? the same rule applies to you unless the object is allowed, then you have different rules. thus stated in hand book. good luck . hope all works out.
