Make sure cable is plugged in tight at both ends. USB cables may benefit from being moved to a port they were once in before. Has that printer ever worked on that computer before? If not, there could be driver incompatibilities.
Is the computer connected to the printer via a network? Network problems will stop network printers from working.

In order to give you the rigth answer I need more information than you have provide. But I will do my best.
Make sure the printer cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the puter.
Try a different cable.
If you are using Windows make sure you have the most current
device driver for your printer installed and that works with your version of Windows. Make sure it is the right device driver.
Can you print a configuration page from the printer?
Try printing the configuration page from the printer definition in Windows.
Is the printer turned on?
That's all I can think of right now. If you give me more detailed info perhaps I can give you a better answer.
You know what they say! Ask the right question and you will get the right answer!
Have fun but be safe!

Then go: Start / control panel / printers and Fax's
make sure your printer is listed
if not, add printer
if it is , make sure it's set to be the default printer
double click on the printer name - you get a new window
