Im locked out of my kids computer,(Window XP home).
They took my user account off of the computer, and I no longer have access to their computer, and i need to know if their is a back door to log in to the computer with out having to buy some program, and with out having to reinstall windows..

I know that on my laptop, (XP Pro) I can do Alt+Ctrl+Del, and i can log in under a hidden Administrator account. Is there any thing like that on (XP Home), and is there any way after i get back on the computer that i can add a hidden Admin. account that they wont see so they cant remove it??

if i am able to add a new account, they still can remove it becaus the have admin access, because if they dont have an admin account, they wont be able to install programs, and im not going to have yo go and log on to my account every time they download something and need it installed.. XP Home only has 2 account types, unlike XP pro.

Lock the computer up, along with the disks. They are DONE. Take them to the public library to use a public computer. They will be ready to obey your computer rules after a few weeks of that.

Email me if you need help..

Yes, if you can touch an XP computer, you will own it. There are programs that will create a boot CD (or boot disk), and you'll be presented with a utility to change the Administrator password when you are fully booted.

SEcond, you can always restore from factory CDs if you've purchased a major brand (ie, HP, Dell, etc). That will put it back to factory specs... which will REALLY make the little darlings howl (serves 'em right).

HOWEVER...

This is NOT a technology problem. It is a parent problem. Being a parent, I agree... that computer goes into the neighbor's locked closet until someone decides to let you back in. I never played fair with my kids... wasn't an asshole w/ them, just let them know that they were not gonna win so long as I paid the bills and they stayed at my house. There was no fight... nothing to discuss. It was like I said, "The sky is blue"... just a statement of fact.

You can tell them to give you back your account and keep them from using the computer again.

XP Pro works a bit like XP Home. If their account is not password protected, log in under their account and use the settings to create a new account. If their account has been made the Admin account, use it to make your new one an Admin, also. Then, select to delete their account. Now, you're the only Admin.

Perhaps you could talk to your kids about their computer habits and ask them for a password. Use your Parental control to get it from them. Otherwise, there are some options below:

Ok, so you can login to the adminstrator account, but xp home only allows it in in Safe Mode (and you'll need the password - it may be blank).

Hold / Press F8 while booting (when you see the window's screen) and you'll get a menu. Choose Boot to safe mode.

If you get in that way, be sure to change your kid's accounts to Limited Users. That way they can't delete your account.

If that doesn't work, there are a few programs out there that will change passwords. Do a search on google for XP Password Crack or something similar. A program that changes the SAM files should do it for you.

Be sure you talk to your kids about internet safety. It's a dangerous world.

After you get back on your computer you will want to download a remote pc access program that will let you watch what they are doing from your pc without them ever knowing or you could go the more expensive route and purchase a program called syncroneyes it will also allow you to watch them

Reboot your PC, then start up in Safe mode.Go into control panel, select user accounts. From there you should be able to get rid of the password and then create your own to lock them off of the computer.

I hate to say this but kick their a$$es....It is YOUR home, YOUR computer, and YOUR money that pays for the net access. Who cares about a "back door". Take the damn computer away...period. They must be teenagers and are hiding stuff. The thing is, in all probablility they are on myspace. Teens are too dumb to send a personal message but post it on their bulliten. You can find out anyting you want there. But to go back to my point, TAKE CONTROL BACK OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD!!!
