I am not pro-chavez, but I am not anti-Chavez either. He, like Many other leaders of the world, has decided to stand up to imperialistic America. He speaks his mind and acts accordingly. By now we all know that venezuela is another one of these oil rich countries, but he does not export a lot of oil to America. This policy costs his country potential economic gain, but his country has Democratically elected him (that is usually what president means... by the way, I do not understand why people say Mahmoud Ahmadinejad oppresses the Iranian people... his proper title is President Ahmadinejad, and most Islamic/Middle Eastern people like him).
Any way the United States has overextended itself geopolitically for decades, but is now (finally) being confronted by fledgling democracies.
This is a good thing. It allows for discourse amongst people who are willing to pay attention and ends the government's spoon feeding of propaganda to its citizens.
I do not like the fact that any time a foreign leader who is anti-American comes into power (anywhere), the American government tries to change the regime via whatever means necessary. There is more than enough proof on this one if you are willing to look it up ('Banana Republic', Castro, Iraq, even Osama recieved money and training for his troops in order to remove/prevent Russia from power in the Middle East in the 80's <-- TRUE)
All in all the American government is Imperialistic (in some regards), and that foreign policy has long been out of favor, but it is just recently that people have begun to stand up to it (like I said before).
And if it was not for people like Hugo Chavez I do not know if the people of America would become aware of such things.
So I guess I am pro-Chavez in the regards that he promotes global awareness.

Chavez promised to put US in depression by raising oil prices so high that our countries economy will have Americans in bread lines.. Why wouldn't I like him. If I were Bush I would have the CIA take him out.

Hugo's cronies and possibly his mother.
For those who see the U.S. as imperialistic; we would take your lands and property, and natural resources if we really wanted to, but it is obvious that we have absolutely no interest in doing so.
Get over your envy of the U.S. already.
We cannot help it if we are the greatest country in the world.

I am, he takes oil money and cuts his countries poverty in half in a short time. I don`t know if I like the people he hangs out with but he was elected by his people. He also likes to sell oil to the world cheaper and that brings down profits. I think Chavez is mad because he knows Bush is going to control Iran`s oil soon. Citgo gas feeds poor people and does not support middle east oil.
